I saw Billy Collins when he came to Boston College and the occasion marked one of the most special moments in my (albeit brief) lifetime. If you get the opportunity to see him, take it!
My favourite poems are 'On Turning Ten' and 'Love'. He is one of the poets I love best.
This reminded me of the sentiment in 'The Velveteen Rabbit'. I liked it a lot, most especially the bit at the end: 'It was enough to make him rock in happiness until/The friend he had lost had a child'. Thank you :)
I loved the immediacy of this poem. It reminded me a bit of Margaret Atwood's 'You Fit Into Me' stylistically. Most lovely were the last lines: 'I'm a fish out of water/but there are plenty more fish in the sea'. I wonder, though, if you made it 'water-/there are' it might strike the reader that much more.
Nicely done :) Thank you.
