Wow! I hope you aren't located in a commonwealth county. This poem would amount to treason! If God forbid someone had a beef with the Monarchy they would probably think it were brilliant. The metaphor is poetically powerful regardless of whether of not the poem has any political value. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather have a monarchy than a bunch of corporate conglomerates running the show. At least the monarchy doesn't have any vested interest in stripping parliament of power and reducing government to be nothing more than a strong armed thug for corporate business ventures.
thanks for the comments. I didn't consider this a sonnet. It's only 12 lines, uses a different rhyme scheme and has no volta. This form uses 2 sestets. each sestet using a ababcc style rhyme scheme and whose first stressed beat starts with the 'ES' sound, which is also the rhyme end on lines 5 and 6 of the sestet. Everything to emphasize the word 'yes'.
Natural disasters are awful. As long as people keep telling themselves its all part of some divine plan we'll raise enough political will to do anything useful to prevent them. It is much easier to simply destroy than to protect.
