  • POEM: If you're going to kill me tonight by John Kipling Lewis (7/17/2006 9:28:00 AM)

I'm only expressing what 1 out of 200 people feel. Being depressed is part of who I am and while I'm depressed I write poetry to get the feelings out. There are a few nuggets of sensuality on my list, if you care to dig for them. And other ideas. But asking me to stop expressing my depression isn't likely to reduce the number of poems you find here about it. It's simply an expression of who I feel.

Thank you, Michael, for taking the time to glance, even if you don't vote. I do appreciate you wishing me luck. You have a brusque mannerism on this forum that I have unfortunately mistaken for you being ill tempered. I feel I may be in error and you may actually care about people and poems after all. Having said that I don't understand your rejection out of hand of any poem written about myself.

I have a chance to submit poems for a Artist Grant in NYC. The problem, for me, is that I have no idea which poems to submit for review. I can submit six. I have 69 (and a couple in notebooks, but whatever) .

What I need is for people to just randomly pick like 5 poems (or more if you have the time) and do an impromptu random bubble sort. So pick 5 and then rank them on the poem site. As more people rank, the better chance I'll have to see what's good to submit. Let me know if one is particularly a favorite.
