  • POEM: A Bored Apple Seed............[humor, I Hope] by Bri Edwards (2/8/2015 9:45:00 AM)

Really comical Bri. I like it. Did you know that 'Nyjer' used to be spelt 'Niger'? It was changed by the seed companies to avoid offending coloured / black people. I'm never sure which term to use these days... mad ain't it?

  • POEM: My English Sucks ….. [english ('Poor') : Almost Medium Length; Education And Life; Ph- Inspired] by Bri Edwards (2/8/2015 9:38:00 AM)

I think this poem is great Bri. It made me chuckle. All languages are moving / ongoing things; the key thing being, can the reader understand the writer's intentions etc? If he / she can, then, job done. Grammar is important only when it ensures no misunderstandings arise. I'll give an example: Take the sentence, 'The Butcher said the Baker is the thief.' Here, the Baker is the thief. OK, but If two commas are added, 'The Butcher, said the Baker, is the thief'.' now the Baker becomes the thief. Your poem is obviously meant to be riddled with errors, which makes it interesting.

  • POEM: If I Were A Flower by Ruth Walters (1/3/2015 7:12:00 AM)

    A sigh inducing poem indeed.
