  • POEM: Comfort by Elizabeth Barrett Browning (5/13/2005 8:30:00 AM)

This is a very meaningful poem, and when I read it, I was saddened to see the typos that ruined the rhythm of this most precious gem!
Speak to 'me' not mo......5 lines down from beginning
And if no precious 'gems' not gums! line 6
I fear Elizabeth would turn over in her grave, as she was a very precise lady, indeed!

  • POEM: Abuse Of A Loving Wife by Alicia Blackwell (5/13/2005 12:50:00 AM)

'This poem is heart wrenching........I've known so many abused woman, and have worked at safe houses, and it usually, on the average takes an abused wife 7 times to leave her husband, and even then there is no guarantee she won't eventually go back! It's a possession of sorts, he aims right for self esteem, she feel empty, and unworthy. No self confidence, and so she goes back, and, back.
This was a well written poem, and I could feel the futility in it.
Our society must come up with a better solution........too many abused wives are being killed.
    Good job.

  • POEM: Haiku by Sharon FottaAnderson (5/13/2005 12:43:00 AM)

Beautiful Haiku.....melonchony in a sad sort of way, however, that is just the
way I felt when I read it, for I've seen so many changes in my life, and I'd rather
see the beautiful meadow, than the cement!
