And before it slips my mind, this poem reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A very good love movie that leaves a bittersweet aftertaste in your mouth. Tragedic, real and heartfelt- Carrey turns in a wonderful performance. I'm reminded of this movie as i'm reading this only cos of the lines ' we are for each other'. U get a sense of that, at the end of the movie.
- the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph'
WOW. That is beautifully put. It reminds me of how silences convey volumes of emotions, it's one of those moments in life where u know it's right, that love's right & the person u are with is right there with you at the right-est of times. Since feeling is first is an apt title- who cares abt the grand poetics of narratives and syntax if u can put this -the fluttering of the eyelids- to words? ?
