  • POEM: A Dream Within A Dream by Edgar Allan Poe (2/27/2017 11:09:00 PM)

I remember the young adult Lucy Pevensy quoting...a dream within a dream... when she and her siblings again found the lamppost in the film The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. It gave me a start, and I wondered, was that an intentional reference made by the screenwriters? Or an artistic accident? Regardless, the phrase sticks in my mind, and I think of it often. I suppose Dumbledore has the answer to that profound question, Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? When Harry Potter asks him of his after-death experience, Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head? Dumbledore replies, Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real? ”

  • POEM: Aftermath by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (2/27/2017 1:39:00 PM)

Aftermath settles my soul and breaks my heart at the same time. The autumn harvest comes with comfort as well as darkness, but come it must.
